Our Products and Practices
All of our beef comes directly from our own farm in Vero Beach Florida. All our animals are raised with the highest animal husbandry and environmental standards. Our animals are raised outside on pasture never in a concentrated animal feed operation or feedlot.
The compassionate treatment of our animals is incredibly important to us. We do our absolute best to avoid stress throughout all stages of our animals’ lives, from beginning to end. Obviously, stress is bad for the animal, but it also creates toxins that negatively affect the quality of the meat.
Our animals are never confined to feedlots, and spend their lives eating well and growing at their own natural pace (rather than being jacked up on hormones). After caring for our animals every day of their lives, the last thing we want to do is undo our work by creating a stressful end of life experience. This is why we work with a family owned and operated small processing facility in Vero Beach that is contiguous to our ranch that upholds our same high standards.
We never prod, use a hot stick, or force our animals onto long truck rides. Not only is this better for the animal, but it also produces a better quality product.
There’s so much confusion over what we should and shouldn’t eat, and buzzwords like these only add to the problem. So let’s break them down.
Natural means nothing was done to the meat after the animal was processed. It doesn’t mean anything about how or where the animal was raised, or what it ate. This simply means no color or flavors were added to the meat after harvest.
Pasture-raised, which all of our products are, means that the animal lived outside for the majority of their life, with fresh air, sunlight, and wide open spaces. All our beef is raised on pasture outside year-round. Our pigs have the option to seek shelter in a covered area that allows access to the outdoors at all times.
Grassfed means that the animal has only eaten grass and never any grain.
To get the best meat, the animal must live a physically and mentally healthy life from beginning to end. This is why we do our best to control every single stage of life.
Our animals are never forced to endure truck rides. The animals are harvested with the most humane practices available. For more information about our humane harvesting process, please reach out directly.
We have developed strict farming guidelines which beat the organic standards.
- We never use any hormones or any antibiotics.
- Our animals are raised outside on pasture and fed grass only (our beef) and all all-natural vegetarian diet (our pork).
- We practice regenerative farming.
We are “beyond organic”.
In short, it depends on how you raise them.
The way food conglomerates raise commodity animals (grocery store meats), is bad because the majority of them are raised in CAFOs. CAFO stands for Concentrated Animal Feed Operations. Concentrating animals in one small location is a recipe for disaster.
We could go on for days about this (call us anytime and we will), but the simple answer is yes - farm animals can be bad for the environment when they are raised as part of a factory, where they’re pumped with antibiotics and other things that make them grow faster, but also upset their stomachs and cause gas (Co2 emissions). And that’s just one of the issues.
On the other side of the spectrum, pasture-raised animals can actually help the environment by regenerating and fertilizing the soil. Our farm is serious about sustainability and great meats and for us the two go hand-in-hand!
Yes! All of our beef is pasture raised and grass fed and grass finished, giving our cuts a delicious marbling you will love.
We care more about how the animal is raised versus how it is graded. With that being said, we do have a USDA inspector on-site to ensure proper meat handling. Beef grading is a separate process completed by a different USDA office.
No!
Yes, we follow regenerative farming practices.
We never use dyes, fillers, or artificial flavorings in any of our products.
All of our beef is dry-aged for a minimum of 7 days unless otherwise stated.
Dry aging is a natural process that tenderizes the meat, concentrates flavors, and removes water. When you purchase dry-aged ground beef, for example, you’re not paying extra for the water weight found in conventional ground beef (up to 30% of its weight!)
Dry-aged beef just tastes better. Supermarket beef is very rarely dry-aged, and the very best steakhouse beef usually is.
Beef has a natural tenderizing enzyme in its muscle fibers. That enzyme works for up to 8 days. Meanwhile, as the meat continues to age, it evaporates water from the muscle, which keeps the flavor concentrated. Since all our beef is grassfed Wagyu, we dry age all of our beef for 7 days so it tenderizes and develops its full flavor.
You may notice our pork and beef are darker in color. Most of the meat you’ll find in a supermarket will look different, which is because it’s often pumped with antibiotics, which cause artificial, rapid growth.
Our animals are given time and space to work and develop their muscles, which leads to this deeper color (and flavor!).
On average you should consume or freeze your (vacuum sealed) product within 7 days of its arrival.
- Pork should be consumed or frozen within 5 days of delivery. Beef is unique.
- Beef that is not ground should be eaten or frozen within 10 days of delivery.
Shipping and Delivery
We ship everywhere in the USA except Alaska and Hawaii.
To keep the meat nice and cold, our cuts are individually vacuum sealed in high quality, airtight cryovac packages to lock in freshness and ensure a long shelf life in your freezer. All are fully frozen and packed in a green friendly insulated box with dry ice for delivery direct to your door.
We use a bio-degradable insulation along with gel packs in a 100% recyclable cardboard shipper. We use a cornstarch-based material that you can rinse down the sink or use to light your BBQ (very cool to see). It was important for us to echo the sustainable practices we adhere to all the way through the packaging experience.
We offer flat rate Standard shipping options with free standard shipping available on orders $120+.
For Standard Shipping, please allow 3 consecutive business days for delivery.
For Express Shipping, please allow 1-2 consecutive business days for delivery.
Buying a Gift?
Leave a gift note on the cart page and let us know if you have a preferred delivery date.
We will provide an estimated delivery date once you place an order. Exact shipping times vary based on your location. For many regions, boxes can arrive in as few as 2 days from when they leave our fulfillment center at the farm in Vero Beach FL.
Once the order is placed, boxes typically ship out the next day! We ship every box with plenty of dry ice so every item will stay completely frozen while in transit. No signature is required for delivery.
Yes! You have complete control — you can change your delivery date before or after you place your order and up until we begin packing your box. You can push out the delivery date of your recurring box with no penalty and even pause it completely.
The meat should be cool to the touch when it arrives. Unless otherwise noted, the product was never frozen, so therefore it could not have defrosted. It is okay if the gel packs are not frozen, as long as they are still cold.
If you’re still not sure, rely on your nose. Meat that is spoiled will smell sour and be very sticky to the touch. If the box is damaged or opened in anyway please contact us immediately.
Cancellations and Returns
Given the perishable nature of the product, we do not accept returns. If there is a problem with your order, contact customer service and we will work to make it right.
Please contact us by email or phone as soon as possible. We always do right by our customers. Our goal is to make sure you enjoy our meat as much as we do.
It’s easy! Cancel your recurring membership anytime from your account.
We will always send you an email notification before your next box ships so you can make any adjustments needed. If your box has already shipped, you cannot cancel that box.
Ordering and Payment
We'll email you to keep you up to date on the status of your order. You can also sign up for email notifications. Sign into your account to view the status of your order.
We don’t have a set restock day. How often we’re able to restock products depends on our processing schedule. If there’s a specific cut you’re looking for, you can join the waitlist for that product and we’ll notify you via email when it’s back in stock.
Our most popular cuts are sold out on a regular basis. You should subscribe to our boxes if you wanted guaranteed allocation, check back frequently as we restock weekly, join the Newsletter to be notified as soon as cuts are available, or try one of our alternatives for a lesser known, but equally as delicious cut.
Your card will be charged one box at a time, starting approximately 1 hour after completing checkout. You can modify or cancel your first order within that window. Changes made after that time can be requested by contacting Customer Care at cheers@drunkenmeats.com and we will do our best to accommodate all requests.
For subsequent recurring membership boxes, your credit card will only be charged the day before we pack and ship out your next membership box. We’ll email you to give you plenty of time to reschedule or modify your recurring boxes before your card is charged.
You think we are that boring: of course your box will NOT be the same every time!
We curate each box based on the type of box you selected, which will always include certain types of cuts, and based on our inventory at the time we customize a selection for every shipment. Plus every time you will receive a special surprise to make sure we keep you happy!
Yes! Every recurring box defaults to monthly deliveries, but you have total control — you can easily change how often you'll receive shipments on your account.
